Beta changes

The beta never looks for updates, so it can't update itself. When a new build is out, anyone who left an email beside the download gets one message saying so. To update, download it again and drag it into Applications over the old one. Your settings stay, and the 45 days still count from your first launch, up to the new build's own end date.

To see which build you have, open Deskthaw again from Applications. The version is at the bottom of its window.

  1. 0.1.4

    • A move could flash on screen and vanish, then come back five minutes later. The app checked whether the panel was visible too soon after showing it and took it away. It now waits up to a second for the panel to appear.

  2. 0.1.3

    • Time on a call now counts toward your next move, and so does time with an app fullscreen or one you listed. A move that comes due during a call still waits until you are off it, then shows after thirty quiet seconds, so after a run of back-to-back calls one is ready instead of thirty more minutes away.
    • Time away from your Mac still counts for nothing, and five minutes away still counts as the break.

  3. 0.1.2

    • If your menu bar is full, macOS hides Deskthaw's snowflake: behind the camera notch on a MacBook, or while the app in front has a long row of menus. Deskthaw now notices and opens a window that says so, with the same settings as the menu.
    • Opening Deskthaw again from Applications or Spotlight always brings up that settings window.
    • Buttons in Deskthaw's windows work on the first click, even when another app is in front.
    • New installs offer a move every 30 minutes of desk time instead of 45. An interval you already picked is kept.
    • Deskthaw keeps a short log on your Mac (when it started and quit, and whether each move reached the screen) so a problem can be traced. It never leaves your Mac.
